Dear Shipbuilder and Shipyard around the world

Restech Norway AS was established in 1989. Our main office is located in Bodø, a small city above
the Arctic Circle in Norway. We are the manufacturer of the Pneumatic Line Thrower (PLT®) and related line throwing and rescue devices. Our products are well known and recognised all over the world among users that needs a line-throwing tool. We have a tool for rescue, mooring and working purposes.

Restech Norway AS has made a new website where you can read more about us and our products. You will find news, pictures, videos, your nearest distributor, references and certificates. Check out the new website on http://www.restech.no/

In general there are two types of line throwing devices on the market today that complies with IMO/SOLAS regulations.
  1. The pyrotechnical type, which uses gun powder as propellant.
  2. The pneumatic type, PLT®, which uses compressed air as propellant.
  3.

Restech Norway AS is the only company in the world that manufactures the pneumatic PLT® that complies with IMO/SOLAS regulations. Several shipbuilders and shipyard have placed the PLT® equipment in their construction specifications, because of the customers' requirements and the IMO/SOLAS regulations.

We have experienced that the market is changing from pyrotechnical to pneumatic equipment. Read more for the reasons why.

Some advantages by using the PLT®

Economic:

All parts are re-useable. Filling of compressed air from the ships high pressure compressor is the only cost. Each ship is thereby self-contained and do not have to rely from onshore supplies.

Training:

Training is performed at no cost.

To perform vital tasks successfully in live situations, training is the key word. With the PLT®, training is simple, free of charge and even quite fun!

No explosive:

No explosives, sparks or flames.

Can be used in oil and gas environment without danger. The storage and logistics are easy to attend to as very few restrictions apply. Can be shipped by any kind of transportation.

No expiry date:

Maintenance:

Easy maintenance and long shelf life.

Made of Stainless Steel, anodised aluminium and plastic. Has undergone and passed several temperature, salt and humidity tests as described in Solas regulations for line throwing appliances.

High precision:

gh precision:

After leaving the launch barrel, the projectile has a free fall flight. Meaning no rocket pushing it out of direction. Passes the deflection demands from Solas with highly good margin.

Safety:

The PLT® is equipped with a safety valve and a fail-to-close regulator. Additionally, it is dimensioned to hold the worst case pressure that can arise.

It has to be operated with both hands, ensuring that no free hand is placed in dangerous positions and will ensure stability during operation.

No back fire gases as the pressure release is pointed forward.
